Hello!

I’m Thierry, and I started this blog to document my new photography project: Your Favorite Spot.

I was born in Visé, a small town situated between Liège and Maastricht in Eastern Belgium. I first discovered photography as a child when I became fascinated with my father’s camera; soon I was determined to get one of my own. At the age of 14, I took a job in a canned meat factory, saved up and bought my very first Pentax.

I recently moved to the beautiful city of San Francisco to work and to get out of my comfort zone. After a hiatus of several years, I have once again returned to photography. I’ve taken a number of workshops to hone my skills, and the feedback has been instructive and encouraging. Having come full circle, I’ve decided that this is the perfect moment to start my new photography project.

The idea: each of us has a spot somewhere that we truly love – it might be for any reason, but we all have a place where we long to be, a place that has a special meaning for us. I want you to share your special place with me. I’ll photograph you there, and write a few words about this great moment. It might be a sunset on a secluded beach, a hidden enclave somewhere downtown, or simply a bench where you enjoy reading. It could be somewhere you go everyday, or perhaps a place you have only visited once. I’m fascinated by people, and I love to discover what make them unique. Through this project, I seek to explore the beauty of San Francisco and the surrounding area through the eyes of its most ardent admirers.

I’ll submit all pictures and text for your approval before posting. Once you have become a part of my project, this blog will keep track of all these moments, growing over time into a unique document of the city’s fascinating environs and citizens.
